Let's say you created an announcement to point out the benefits of a new feature. You would want to be able to answer the question: How many people who saw my announcement then used the new feature?
Here’s an example of how you can create such a goal segment:
Filter 1: Everyone who has seen your engagement (less than 3 times if the announcement is inside of a launcher, or exact 1 time if the announcement is just shown once)
Filter 2: Everyone who has used the feature your engagement pointed out more than 1 time* SINCE the launch of your engagement.
Filter 1 and 2 can be further refined to meet your definition of adoption. Using a feature more than 1 time accounts for if the user came back to the feature after they saw and potentially clicked on the announcement.
From this segment, you can take the total number of people who fall into this segment and divide by the total number of people who saw your engagement to measure how effective your engagement was.
(Example: if 80 people are part of this segment and a total of 100 people saw the announcement, then the effectiveness of the announcement would be [80/100]*100 = 80%)
Advanced Goal Segment Ideas:
- Add additional feature filters to ensure someone is using the group of features you would expect them to adopt after seeing the engagement.
- Exclude anyone who has used the feature before your announcement went live using the date range option when using "since" in the filter.
- Create an additional segment to measure who has used the feature several times since your announcement went live - identify who your "power" users are!
