In addition to in-app tours and announcements, UserIQ offers tooltips. These messages can be seen when a user hovers over a specific element. They are a proven way to drive feature engagement.
You can customize your tooltip content, decide who you'd like to show it to, where you'd like it to appear, and more.
Creating a tooltip
Tooltips are created in your web app. Follow these steps to create a tooltip:
Step 1) Log into UserIQ and your company’s web app in the same browser. Navigate to the page in your company’s web app where you want to place the tooltip.
Click the UserIQ bubble on the bottom right corner of the screen.
Step 2) The UserIQ sidebar will appear on the right side of the screen.
Click the Tooltips option and click on the Add New Tooltip button.
Step 3) Please select the type of Tooltip you would like to create (Basic Tooltip if you would like to create a regular tooltip, and Micro-Feedback Tooltip if you would like to launch a Micro-Feedback engagement). For additional information on Micro-Feedback engagements, please read Micro-Feedback engagements.
Step 4) Click the element on the screen that you would like to attach the tooltip. A series of "?" icons will appear, click the "?" icon where you would like the tooltip to appear. Once this is done, select the position where the text content would be displayed (in the example below, we have selected the option to display the tooltip content downwards).
Step 5) Set the behavior for the tooltip from the admin panel to the right.
Step 6) Finally once you are done with the above 5 steps, please name your tooltip and then configure the tooltip to your liking. These configurations can either be done in-app or while creating the tooltip through the admin panel itself (as illustrated below).
Bonus step! - You can also directly set a tooltip to Active or Preview status by selecting the Status from the drop-down when editing the tooltip in the Admin Panel (If you were to use this option, please be advised that the audience would automatically default to Everyone. However, if you would like to modify the audience, please navigate to UserIQ App as mentioned later in this article).
Editing tooltips in the UserIQ app
To configure the tooltips in UserIQ, navigate to the UserIQ App (app.useriq.com) -> Engagements Drop-down -> All Engagements -> Tooltips -> Edit Tooltip.
Here, you will be able to edit the tooltip content. The content can be text, an image, video, etc., very similar to an announcement. When you have finished, click the Save button on the bottom of the tooltip edit page.
The toggle mode determines how you want the user to interact with the tooltip. Click, requires the user to click on the ? to display the content, Hover will display thecontent if the user just mouses over the ?, while Always shows the content of the tooltip without any user interaction.
There is also an Animation option, this will display a radiating pulse around a dot if it's set to Yes.
You can then navigate to the Audience tab to configure the audience for the tooltip. Once this is completed, you can set the status of the Tooltip to Preview or Active.
